The latter's work lay chiefly, if not entirely, in directing the attention of the class to the proofs of the Divine origin and authority of the Bible as found in the sacred volume itself. Never- theless he took a somewhat wider survey of the sub- ject, and introduced much of his own experience, the results of a long and very active life, as a teacher and minister of the Word, thus giving the students the benefit of a large acquaintance with men and books."
